Flowing Memories
Brooch, 2025,
4.2 X 2.5 X 0.5 inches
Sterling silver, fine silver, enamel, stone, crystal, gemstone, steel wire

This brooch is inspired by a city trip with my friend and the layered emotions tied to that journey. Driving through different neighborhoods, we immersed ourselves in the city’s unique rhythm—where bustling crowds and traffic formed its distinct pulse. The car shielded us from the noise while making us part of the chaos.
Throughout the trip, we shared surprises, braved the cold, discovered new sights, and sometimes lost patience in traffic. As time passed, our car filled not only with purchases but also with memories of the journey and the city.

The design revolves around “flowing memories,” capturing the passage of time and emotions during travel. The zodiac animal elements, a recurring symbol of time in my work, represent memory here, abstracted into its outer contours.
Using enamel, gemstones, and reflective metal, I integrate light, wind, urban layers, and fragmented memories. Each component is designed to sway slightly, symbolizing the movement of people and vehicles. The clash of colors through enamel reflects the city’s transition from day to night, distinguishing fleeting yet deeply imprinted moments.

Moving to the city has profoundly shaped my life. This piece serves as a milestone—marking my evolving mindset and the transformation brought by urban living.
